SELF Care System – Home Use

The Social, Emotional Learning FUNdamental (SELF) Care is a wholistic system that allows children, from 2 – 7 years of age, to identify the emotions they are feeling internally and in relation to others. Once the emotions are identified be it anger, sadness, fear, high-energy, low energy, etc., they are better understood and the tools to help themselves process through those emotions can be implemented.

Children use specific tools to redirect energy by giving themselves, through using the SELF Care System, what they need in that moment to self-soothe; therefore, returning them to their natural, balanced state of being. This results in less outbursts of reactionary behavior and more calm, centered responses to the emotions they are feeling.

A SELF Care Station in what I like to call a “time-in” space is designated within the home where children can go to use specific tools to bring them back to balance any time they need them.

I created the SELF Care System to bring a balanced energy to the home environment resulting in a more relaxed and harmonious place for children and parents. When children are given the tools to help themselves feel better, they use them! This allows children to be in a powerful place of taking care of themselves and their emotional needs from an early age and lasts a lifetime.

SELF Care System – School Use

The Social, Emotional Learning FUNdamental (SELF) Care System is a wholistic preschool curriculum. It is implemented at the beginning of the preschool day and allows children, through a variety of exercises that include; yoga, breathing, cross-lateral movements, affirmations, tapping, and dancing to drumming to start their day with full integration through body, mind and spirit. This allows children to fully absorb the material they are learning with greater retention and recall later.

A SELF Care Station acts as a “time-in” space, designated within the classroom. Children learn to identify the emotions they are feeling internally and in relation to others. Once the emotions are identified be it anger, sadness, fear, high-energy, low energy, etc., they are better understood and the tools to help themselves process through those emotions can be implemented.

Children go to the SELF Care Station anytime throughout the school day to use the tool they need in that moment to self-soothe; therefore, returning them to their natural, balanced state of being. This results in less outbursts of reactionary behavior and more calm, centered responses to the emotions they are feeling.
